Sandcastles is a 3 hour program for children of divorce ages 6 to 17 years. It is an educational program and support group that was developed by Psychotherapist M. Gary Neuman of Miami Beach, Florida and it is a mandatory program in over a dozen cities in the United States including Miami-Dade County, Florida. This program is available to children in numerous other areas of the United States and around the world. Over 100,000 children have successfully completed this program in the United States.

The Sandcastles program has been featured in People Magazine, Time Magazine, Parenting Magazine & Parents Magazine. It has also been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, CBS Weekend News, Talk of the Nation, CNN, National Public Radio, The View & Dateline NBC. Through this 3-hour program, children learn valuable adjustment skills, which help make divorce less painful. They will also learn:

•The facts about Divorce

•How to cope more effectively

•How to express feelings appropriately

•How to avoid playing divorce games

•How to deal with guilt

•The grief stages of divorce

•How to resolve conflicts with parents

•When and how to ask for help

Sandcastles groups are offered in Pembroke Pines one or two Saturdays per month from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. Children are assigned to aged-based groups and they are provided with individual workbooks as follows: 6-7 years, 8-10 years, 11-13 years and 14-17 years. Groups are sometimes combined based on the number of children of a particular age that are registered for a particular class. For further information, please call (954) 438 5661.
